Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, announces today that the Centre Hospitalier du Mans in France has selected Agfa HealthCare’s leading Hospital and Clinical Information System (HIS/CIS) ORBIS™ to support the implementation of a full Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution.
The Centre Hospitalier du Mans is one of France's largest hospital centers, employing over 4000 staff members and 1657 beds. Annually, the hospital manages around 220,000 consultations and admits 58,000 patients of the 69,000 who pass through the emergency department.
ORBIS, Agfa HealthCare's leading HIS/CIS solution, enhance the quality of patient treatment by providing fast availability of patient histories, including diagnostic images, administrative information and clinical data. Patient data and histories at Centre Hospitalier du Mans will be available to the medical staff through-out the facility, providing for quicker, more informed diagnoses and treatment. By enabling information and data to be shared between different clinical departments during the treatment process, ORBIS will anchor the hospital's implementation of a fully fledged EPR solution.
"This project is of great strategic importance for us and will reinforce the overall recognition of our hospital as a leading care provider. The new solution will enable us to optimize our workflow and enhance our ability to responsibly and safely manage our patients within our facility. It will also enable this facility to more actively and efficiently work with external medical consultants, patients and the population at large.", states Philippe Roussel, Director of the Centre Hospitalier du Mans.
"The introduction of a new CIS will offer our health professionals a common platform and set of tools which will support the specific needs of each clinical specialty in the larger hospital environment, while integrating their efforts across specialties and departments. The improved fluidity of information across the enterprise will, as a result, enable improved delivery of patient care" adds Vincent Trely, Director of Information Systems at the Centre Hospitalier du Mans.
"We look forward to a long lasting relationship with the Centre Hospitalier du Mans. The choice of ORBIS by a hospital of this size and magnitude is an important indicator that we are, today, a recognized leader in providing advanced healthcare IT solutions in France, Europe and beyond "states Philippe Blanco, Managing Director of Agfa HealthCare France."When completed, this project will be an important showcase of our CIS capabilities in Europe."
